NEW LOW READY

The Foghorns' new album is done! Below are the release dates.

THE GOOD FIGHT CONTINUES

Completion of the Foghorns' 4th album has hit a snag. The digital recorder containing the band's recordings is on the fritz. Luckily, some of the songs were mixed and transferred to CD. Unfortunately, we only have rough and unfinished mixes of other tunes.

The songs were recorded at Ol' Man Simmons Studio in Kenosha, Wisconsin during the last week of December 2004. Songs on the album are to include Golden Ghosts, Crying Man, Uncle Ethan, and Hat Blues among others.

I suppose this news doesn't affect too many. Really only me, and possibly the 3 people actually reading this.

SO SOBER US RELEASE

So Sober is ready for US RELEASE!!! That’s right, the album has finally made it. Look for an exact date soon, but sales should be through record stores in the Midwest and New York.

NEW ALBUM ON ITS WAY

The Foghorns continue to fight the good fight. At present, Steve is mixing and remixing the fourth Foghorns album. The use of layered vocals and overlapping melodies has made mixing extremely difficult, but it will make for better songs. On an odd note, “Golden Ghosts” has been leaked in Iceland, even making it to a few ring tones.

FOGHORNS CONTINUE PLAYING REYKJAVÍK

Yes, the Foghorns, with Bart and Das Bucket, will continue to play weekly or biweekly shows all summer in Iceland. Why? Because Bart is emotionally unstable and has become completely unhinged, and without getting to perform regularly, he does things like sob uncotrollably and microwave popcorn just to hear the kernals pop.

Happy New Year to everyone. The new album is out and we have made it to tinfoil level in sales. That’s right, we hit the big number 25.

Distribution has been difficult: we don’t have an American distributor, and we really don’t have any way of getting them out of Iceland, (or back from the record shops who are selling them) so... if you want SO SOBER, fly to Iceland.

On the bright side, the other new album should be out in a few months. It’s all been recorded, and we’re quite proud of it. Featuring the original Foghorns line-up, the album returns to our minimalist recording techniques. You won’t hear overdubs on this one, ladies and gentlemen.

Finally, the Iceland branch of the Foghorns will begin clubbing again in a couple weeks. Due to a lingering cough and low self-esteem, I haven’t yet booked a gig, but have been told that I will be forced to play at Bar 11 in February, and I’m in talks to return to Da Palace to shoot a video: especially good, as I miss playing in bars where the urinals are filled with vomit.

On that note, I came across an amusing press release on “The FROGHORNS.” This is regarding our cd release party, which was held at Bar 11, but which has suffered from a rough translation from Icelandic to English.

Live music – debut concert

The band “Froghorns” will play tonight because of the release of their new album “So Sober”. Bart Cameron is the singer and the songwriter of the band but he is also a journalist and a writer and works for example for the Reykjavik Grapevine and Iceland Review.

We held our cd-release party for So Sober on Thursday, December 16 at Bar 11 in downtown Reykjavík. Thanks to Thórir, Doddi, Touch and Bob Justman for playing with us. The Icelandic bands were amazing. And thanks to the many fans who filled Bar 11 on such a cold and busy night. We've been asked to repeat the performance... in fact, we've had requests for many repeats, and we'll mull this over during the holidays.

In other news, cds are available in Iceland. I've decided to sell them exclusively at 12 Tónar, my favorite record shop and home of my favorite label. Thanks to early sales, (and media obligations), I'm afraid we only have about 50 cds left. You can email 12 Tónar for details: 12tonar@12tonar.is.

So Sober will go on sale in the US in a few weeks. I'll let you know where to buy it. Probably through Exclusive Company, the Wisconsin-based record shop.

So Sober has been mixed AND printed. We are waiting on packaging materials. More details soon.

And yes, The Foghorns have been reviewed. By Bart. Here is the article from the Reykjavík Grapevine.
